We loved it

“We were on tour and had a couple of days off. We stayed for four days in Osijek and we couldn't had find a better place for us (4 people) to stay in. Very nice host and nice location with only a few minutes walk to the center of the city. If we ever come back to Osijek, this would probably be the place for us! / REPAY”

Centre From A Broader Perspective

Leading trom the Baroque Tvrđa to the flag bearer of the Neo-Gothic period, the Con-Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, there is the shiny garland of Art Nouveau buildings along the Street of Europske Avenije. Going past Axmann’s architectural monument to Art Nouveau (the Urania cinema), and past the Baroque Capuchin Monastcrv and St. Jacob’s Church, we arrive at the unique triangular-shaped Ante Starčević Square, which is a fantastic example of flawless harmonv betveeen the Neo-Gothic period, Art Nouveau and Neo-Classicism (Palače of the County Government).

It is a gorgeous square, open like the palm of a hand, a place where people, pigeons, strav dogs, cats and the vast Pannonian sky profess their mutual love to one another. The square expands outwards like the rays of sunshine, in the direction of Županijska Street, past the Croatian National Theatre building’s Classicist fasade with elements of Moorish architecture, and along Strossmayerova Street, past the square vhich was named after salt and past the Church of Saint Roch, the patron saint protecting the citv from the plague.

Your route away from the square can also take you down to the river Drava, to the walkway which measures the speed of the flow of this mightv and languid flatland river. You could also stop and pause at the square, and experience with ali vour senses the citv which is truly a great place to live.
